I was trying to place Christmas 1983 in my Life. Now I remember! That was the year it snowed in San Antonio, Texas! Great job! Thank you for contributing to putting Leon Day and Christmas in July on the map. My husband and I also celebrate Christmas in August-a Church/missionary Collection from my childhood. Love the Hallmark scenerio, The Christmas Farm sounds like a great idea! I have a suggestion, next year, let’¨s come up with a specific “Christmas in July”…..scenario. It is actually celebrated in several places as well as the Cold weather version in Australia. That would be so much fun!
I wonder what your Mom got in 1983 that was so expensive. Probably jewelry. This reminds me of a newlyweds’ Christmas. They were married 12/20 and they were very excited about Christmas. Before and after their marriage, the wife kept putting gifts for her intended under their tree. However, she observed from the 18th through the 24th, there remained only 1 present for her. Christmas morning still just one gift and she (holding back remarks about cheapness) opened her package. It had a blouse, skirt, bracelet, necklace, scarf and earrings inside and they all coordinated. She burst out her frustration anyway saying that each should have been in a separate box. The husband, mildly annoyed, asked if he gives her a pair of socks, should he wrap two boxes? The wife huffily said YES!!! Merry Christmas.
