  2. Weston says:

Thank you for finally covering this film, Tim! I managed to go my entire childhood and early adulthood without seeing it, until 2006 when it was re-released in 3D. It was probably my first time seeing a film in 3D, but I was mesmerized. I currently count it in my top three favorite movies of all time, and loved hearing about more of the backstory. I’m firmly in the “it’s a Halloween movie” camp, but while I’m likely to watch Hocus Pocus in the days leading up to Halloween, I try to save this one for Halloween day itself, because for me, it’s the perfect transition that gets me ready to take down the pumpkin, witch, and bat decorations and put up the ones we’ve all been waiting all year to see again!

  3. Sean says:

I’m hoping the reason you didn’t include this was because of its musical content. 🙂 But one of my all-time favorite SNL sketches, PERIOD, is a fairly recent one. (Everybody who says “SNL hasn’t been good since the original cast” needs to really get their heads out of wherever they are: except for the non-Lorne years, it was always the same: a few good sketches here and there and a lot of duds. Just watch the first couple of years and tell me how many episodes you can sit all the way through. Muppets, anyone?) Sorry about that parenthesized rant…anyhoo…

Having been raised Catholic, both my wife and I were in hysterics watching this. They NAILED it!

AS it is the Nightmare BEFORE Christmas. We Watch it for Halloween, or if I am really down on Christmas.

  5. Crabby Crabapple says:

    Hi there Tim.

Just wanted to let you know that ‘It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown’ and most of the other Peanuts specials are currently available for free on the Internet Archive.

Another great episode Tim, and the fact that we got our first snowfall of the year the day you posted the podcast made it even better!

I really hate to do this but I have to disagree with The Nightmare Before Christmas being a Christmas movie, or even being a good movie. To be completely transparent though I have to admit I’ve never been able to make it through the entire thing. I have tried multiple times but get bored and never make it. After your podcast though I will commit to making one more attempt.

I’m sorry but I also have to disagree with Sean. (I promise I’m not usually this negative!) I’m glad he is able to enjoy SNL, but SNL to me these days is simply not funny, and hasn’t been for a great many years. The older skits you reference in the podcast though Tim are classics!

Looking forward to November podcast. Thanks for all you do!

  7. Zach says:

    Hey Tim!

I had never seen “The Nightmare Before Christmas” before listening to the episode but was convinced to do so after listening. It was definitely…different! I can’t say I’ve ever seen a movie like it, though I did enjoy it. Whether or not it is a Christmas movie, I guess it just depends on a person’s point of view. The movie was enjoyable, nevertheless!
I love the podcast, and it has become one of my favorite podcasts to listen to. I’ve been binge-listening to all of the early episodes since I just found this podcast last month.
Keep up the great work! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
